Gestational Trophoblastic Tumors Treatment (PDQ®)

Nonmetastatic Gestational Trophoblastic Tumors

Treatment may be one of the following:

  1. Chemotherapy.
  2. Surgery to remove the uterus (hysterectomy) if the patient no longer wishes to have children.

Check for clinical trials from NCI's PDQ Cancer Clinical Trials Registry that are now accepting patients with nonmetastatic gestational trophoblastic tumor 1.



Glossary Terms

chemotherapy (KEE-moh-THAYR-uh-pee)
Treatment with drugs that kill cancer cells.
hysterectomy (HIS-teh-REK-toh-mee)
Surgery to remove the uterus and, sometimes, the cervix. When the uterus and part or all of the cervix are removed, it is called a total hysterectomy. When only the uterus is removed, it is called a partial hysterectomy.
surgery (SER-juh-ree)
A procedure to remove or repair a part of the body or to find out whether disease is present. An operation.
uterus (YOO-ter-us)
The small, hollow, pear-shaped organ in a woman's pelvis. This is the organ in which a baby grows. Also called the womb.
