As the Federal Government's principal agency for cancer research and training, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) endorses The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent Skin Cancer, which provides a comprehensive evaluation of the current state of skin cancer prevention efforts in the United States and recommends actions for improvement in the future.

NCI supports the goals of the Surgeon General's "Call to Action" by continuing to conduct and fund a wide range of research to strengthen the evidence base to inform public health policy and education efforts while also working with our partners across the Federal government, the research community, and the health care community to monitor skin cancer rates and increase the adoption of proven risk reduction strategies.

More information on NCI's research and health education resources on skin cancer and its prevention is available on NCI's Skin Cancer Home Page.
