The NCI Center for Cancer Training is pleased to announce a course in “the Whole Person Health approach in the management of chronic diseases” (WPH). Traditionally chronic conditions such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, dementia, as well as others, are treated by medical specialists for one disease. In contrast, whole person health acknowledges the interplay of biological, behavioral, social and environmental factors in health and illness. This approach follows the bio-psycho-social-spiritual model and focuses on all aspects of an individual’s well-being. Whole person health is influenced by diet, movement, sleep, social connections, family, community and spirituality. Registrants will have a unique opportunity to learn new information about WPH and glimpse into the future treatment of chronic disease from accomplished academic clinicians and researcher who are experts in the field.
