An Intro to Gene Set Enrichment Analysis and the Molecular Signatures Database
Learn what Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and the Molecular Signatures Database (MSigDB) offer researchers for analyzing gene expression changes in cancer research.
Dr. Anthony Castanza from the UC San Diego Mesirov Lab will:
- give an overview of the GSEA computational method.
- discuss best practices for analyzing various types of input data.
- explore MSigDB gene set collection resources for analyzing both human and mouse model organism data.
- highlight artificial intelligence features that help you interpret GSEA results.
The GSEA-MSigDB project is a Mesirov Lab software project that’s been funded by NCI’s Informatics Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR) program.
About the Speaker
Anthony Castanza, Ph.D.
Dr. Castanza is currently the Molecular Signatures Database Curator at the Mesirov Lab. He’s responsible for MSigDB’s development and maintenance, which includes analyzing current literature to package the state-of-the-art biological knowledge for the GSEA method. He’s also the primary technical and scientific support contact for the MSigDB-GSEA team.
