Submit Your Data Research Proposals to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity

NIH’s Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) Consortium to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity (AIM-AHEAD) has new funding opportunities to help you in your work and make a difference in addressing inequities in public health and biomedical (including cancer) research.

  1. AIM-AHEAD Consortium Development Projects to Advance Health Equity—Are you using data (e.g., electronic health records, image data, social determinants of health) to develop new (or enhancing existing) AI/ML algorithms in your cancer research? Submit your proposal and show how your idea could help detect and mitigate bias and reduce health disparities. Apply by June 20, 2023.
  2. Planning Awards for AIM-AHEAD Data and Infrastructure Capacity Building at Minority-serving Institutions—Do you have a plan for building cancer-related data sets and systems at minority-serving institutions? Submit your ideas on using technology to address health disparities and inequities and to train a workforce to make the best use of those tools. Apply by June 26, 2023.
  3. Program for Artificial Intelligence Readiness (PAIR)—Do you represent a minority-serving institution in need of resources for building AI/ML cancer-research capacity? Submit your proposal for advancing health equity and researcher diversity at your location. Apply by June 20, 2023.
  4. AIM-AHEAD Hub-Specific Pilot Projects—Are you interested in conducting small-scale, community-engaged, cancer research studies that align with AIM-AHEAD’s overall goals? Submit your proposal to become an “AIM-AHEAD hub.” Apply by June 20, 2023.

AIM-AHEAD also has opportunities for training. Applications for both are due by June 20, 2023.

  • Research Fellowship—Are you an early-career researcher seeking support for your cancer data science work? Apply to use AI/ML methodologies to address health disparities and inequities.
  • Leadership Fellowship—Are you a member of an under-represented population and interested in mentoring future cancer data scientists? Apply to gain the skills necessary to promote and achieve AIM-AHEAD’s strategic goals.
