10 Years of NCI’s Cancer Research Data Commons Highlighted in AACR Journal

To commemorate ten years of the Cancer Research Data Commons (CRDC), NCI published a four-part series, where you can read about CRDC’s history, resources, standards, and future initiatives. The series is in Cancer Research, one of the flagship journals of the American Association for Cancer Research, and includes the following:

  • “Lessons Learned and Future State” reflects on the CRDC’s past achievements and notes upcoming initiatives.
  • “Resources to Share Key Cancer Data” discusses the attributes and capabilities of each CRDC data commons and the key NCI-funded data sets.
  • “Cloud-based Analytical Resources” covers the three NCI-funded cloud resources within the CRDC, their features, and publicly available analytical tools.
  • “Core Standards and Services” describes the standards and services that ensure data security, interoperability, and searchability in the CRDC.

CBIIT’s Dr. Jill Barnholtz-Sloan says, “as the CRDC enters its tenth year, we are showcasing how the CRDC empowers cancer researchers. This manuscript series details how to take full advantage of its resources.”

The CRDC is a cloud-based data science infrastructure that connects data sets with analytical tools and allows you to share, integrate, analyze, and visualize cancer research data.
