Artificial Intelligence (AI) Code of Conduct Offers Guide for Cancer Researchers and Data Scientists

The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) developed the Artificial Intelligence Code of Conduct (AICC) for Health and Medicine: Essential Guidance For Aligned Action to address the growing need for clear guidance on AI usage within the scientific community. NAM designed this framework to align the health and health sciences fields through a new set of guidelines. These guidelines combine best practices, fill gaps, and provide a practical foundation for AI use in health and medicine.

This framework, supported in part by NCI, aims to help you and your organization evaluate your approach to responsible AI and align your internal policies with best practices. By working from a common set of standards, you can help promote AI that strengthens collaboration, builds trust, and improves care.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming more integrated in health care and medicine, including the field of cancer research. As AI technologies evolve, they offer unprecedented opportunities for you to analyze complex data faster, improve diagnosis and prevention, and personalize treatment plans. However, with these advancements also come important questions about ethics, safety, and responsibility. There is a clear need for guidance to ensure that the scientific community is using AI in ways that improve outcomes for everyone.
