Promote and Reward Data Sharing Through the NIH Data Sharing Index (S-index) Challenge

Are you a data scientist, researcher, or informaticist with an innovative idea for expanding data sharing and advancing open science principles? If so, register for the Data Sharing Index (S-index) Challenge. The total prize purse for this Challenge is $1,000,000!

This competition seeks to recognize and incentivize the efforts of individuals and teams in sharing data, rather than just the value of the data itself.

Judges will assess how effective you are in sharing research data that has utility for future studies. This metric will consider factors such as:

  • adherence to FAIR (i.e., Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) principles.
  • data timeliness and completeness of annotation.
  • frequency of utilization in other studies.
