Join this upcoming webinar to learn how to use an NCI-funded tool to explore genomic data sets.
Dr. James “Jim” Robinson will introduce you to the Integrative Genomics Viewers (IGV), a high-performance visualization tool with an emphasis on next generation sequencing (NGS) short and long read alignments.
After a brief overview, Dr. Robinson will go into detail by demonstrating how you can:
- download and install IGV.
- select and configure genome assemblies.
- load data from local files or remote sources.
- navigate through the genome.
- view alignment tracks to examine features such as single nucleotide and structural variants, RNA splicing, and base modifications.
- view variants from variant call format (VCF) files.
- load data from public repositories, including track hubs.
By the end of the webinar, you will be able to install and use IGV to examine NGS alignments, variants, and related genomic data.
NCI’s Informatics Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR) program funded the development and continued enhancement of the IGV tool in 2016 and 2021.
