- activin type IIA receptor Fc fusion protein KER-050
A recombinant fusion protein composed of a modified form of the ligand-binding domain of the human transforming growth factor beta (TGF-b) receptor activin receptor type IIA (ActRIIA) and linked to the Fc domain of human antibody, with red blood cell (RBC) and platelet stimulating activities. Upon subcutaneous administration, activin type IIA receptor Fc fusion protein KER-050 acts as a ligand trap, and binds to a subset of the TGF-b family of proteins. This inhibits the binding of these proteins to their receptors and blocks signaling mediated by this subset of TGF-b family of proteins and their receptors. This may promote hematopoiesis and increase RBC and platelet production. Check for active clinical trials using this agent. (NCI Thesaurus)
