A vaccine used to prevent cervical cancer caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) types 16 and 18. It is also used to prevent lesions that may lead to cervical cancer. Cervarix is approved for use in females aged 9 to 25 years. It is a type of bivalent vaccine (a vaccine that works against two different viruses or other microorganisms).
