Use in Cancer
Capivasertib is approved to treat:
- Breast cancer that is hormone receptor positive and HER2 negative and has an abnormal PIK3CA, AKT1, or PTEN gene. It is used with fulvestrant to treat adults whose breast cancer has spread and has gotten worse during or after treatment with hormone therapy or whose cancer has come back during or within 12 months after completing adjuvant therapy.
- Prostate cancer that is PTEN-deficient and either responds to hormone therapy or has not been treated with hormone therapy. It is used with abiraterone acetate and prednisone to treat adults whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
Capivasertib is also being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer.
