On Thursday, November 5, 2020 the American Society of Preventive Oncology's Global Cancer Research Special Interest Group hosted the webinar Advancing the Field of Academic Global Oncology: Perspectives from the US NCI Global Oncology Survey of NCI-Designated Cancer Centers, featuring speakers from NCI’s Center for Global Health and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

CGH Director Satish Gopal provided an overview of NCI and the mission and goals of the NCI Center for Global Health.

CGH Acting Branch Chief for Partnerships and Dissemination Kalina Duncan presented the findings of the 2018-2019 Global Oncology Survey of NCI-Designated Cancer Centers.

The Q&A, moderated by Johns Hopkins’ Anne Rositch, covered topics such as

  • defining ‘global oncology’ and global oncology programs
  • how the survey results have impacted NCI’s goals and priorities around future initiatives
  • how Cancer Centers can build support for global oncology as a program and career path
