Vignesh Gunasekharan, Ph.D.
Dr. Vignesh Gunasekharan has expertise in viral oncology, cancer target discovery, and the development of preventive and therapeutic cancer drugs. He manages a portfolio of grants elucidating the mechanisms underlying tumor viruses and identifying strategies to intercept cancer initiation, development, and progression.
Background
Prior to joining DCB in 2026, Dr. Gunasekharan served as the Director of Operations for the PREVENT Cancer Preclinical Drug Development Program (PREVENT) within the NCI Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP). He also served as a Program Director and Project Officer for the Cancer Prevention-Interception Targeted Agent Discovery Program (CAP-IT). Additionally, he contributed to several NCI initiatives, including the Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies (IMAT) Program and the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program.
