Dr. Justin Benavidez

Justin Benavidez, Ph.D.

Division of Cancer Biology (DCB)

Dr. Justin Benavidez has expertise in biological sciences, developmental biology, and cancer metastasis, with an emphasis on Notch signaling and transcription factors. His background adds a relatively unique perspective to cancer research.

When describing his work in DCB, Dr. Benavidez says “I can mesh my experience in biology with my passion to help people.”  

He also has a special interest in tumor metastasis research using zebrafish models and research related to patient-derived organoids.

Background

Prior to becoming a Program Director, Dr. Benavidez was a Presidential Management Fellow at NCI and rotated in different Divisions, Offices, and Centers.
