dabigatran

A benzimidazole and direct thrombin inhibitor, with anticoagulant activity. Upon administration, dabigatran reversibly binds to and inhibits the activity of thrombin, a serine protease that converts fibrinogen into fibrin. This disrupts the coagulation cascade and inhibits the formation of blood clots.
