Hyo Sook Bae, Ph.D., M.D., M.P.H., currently serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Center for Global Health (CGH). With a background as a gynecologic oncology surgeon, Dr. Bae previously acted as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at CHA Gangnam Medical Center/CHA University in Korea. Additionally, she provided her expertise to the National Cancer Center Korea.

Since her relocation to the United States in 2018, Hyo Sook's career has expanded beyond clinical practice, focusing on women's health on a global scale. She has actively participated in humanitarian healthcare projects in several countries, most recently as an onco-surgeon with the Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Cervical Cancer Project in Malawi.

Dr. Bae's current research interest lies in understanding and finding solutions to combat stigma surrounding HPV infection and cervical cancer. Stigma places a significant emotional burden on women and negatively impacts health-seeking behavior and treatment outcomes, making it a crucial area of focus for Hyo Sook. Dr. Bae earned her Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy degrees at Korea University and her Master of Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
