Sean Hanlon, Ph.D.
As the Acting Deputy Director for DCB, Dr. Sean Hanlon supports fundamental research across the spectrum of cancer biology and helps foster emerging scientific areas. He is also committed to advancing cancer research through open science, technology development, and transdisciplinary collaboration.

Background
Prior to DCB, Dr. Hanlon was the Deputy Director of the NCI Center for Strategic Scientific Initiatives (CSSI) where he provided leadership in the planning, developing, and implementing initiatives with a focus on emerging areas of science with potential impact across the cancer research continuum.
He came to the NCI in 2009 through the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowship program.
