    Epidemiologists Valerie McCormack, Ph.D. and Steady Chasimpha, MSc presented their research focused mostly on cancer epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa, including on cancers contributing to excessive premature mortality in the region. This work included contextual studies of the reasons for low breast cancer survival as well as etiological research on esophageal cancer.

  • Ireland-Northern Ireland-US National Cancer Institute Cancer Consortium MoU Signing

    The National Cancer Institute joined the governments of Ireland and Northern Ireland to strengthen cancer research, control, and training collaborations through the re-signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the Ireland-Northern Ireland-NCI Cancer Consortium. In addition to the signing of the MOU, the virtual event included discussion from cancer patients and experts on cancer care in Ireland.

    GCH convened the 9th Annual Symposium on Global Cancer Research as a virtual meeting alongside the Consortium of Universities for Global Health Annual Conference, March 10-11, 2021. The highly interactive two-day program explored the science and complex considerations around resilience and equity in global cancer research and control.

  • The 2nd IBCQ International Biobanking Conference 2021: Adapting to New Avenues of Sustainability Speakers Session

    Biobanking has been recognized as an integral part of the global research infrastructure and the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Biobanks have had to adapt to a new reality and streamline workflows and develop new collaborations and networking opportunities. Marianne Henderson, Senior Advisor on Biobanking for CGH co-presented a session at the 2nd IBCQ International Biobanking Conference titled "Coronavirus and Biobanking: The Collective Global Experiences of the First Wave and Bracing for the Second."
